Seth Greenberg

Seth Greenberg is a college basketball analyst for ESPN, known for his extensive coaching background and expertise in basketball broadcasting. Greenberg holds a degree in broadcast journalism from Fairleigh Dickinson University, which provided a foundation for his transition from coaching to media. He joined ESPN as a college basketball analyst, leveraging 35 years of coaching experience. Greenberg appears on multiple platforms, including as a game and studio analyst, and is a regular contributor to SportsCenter and ESPN Radio. Before his broadcasting career, Greenberg established a notable coaching résumé in college basketball. After graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson, he began as an assistant coach at Columbia, then moved to Pittsburgh, where he contributed to two NCAA Tournament appearances. He later spent a season as an assistant coach at Virginia, helping the team reach the Final Four. Greenberg became head coach at Long Beach State, leading the 49ers to two NCAA Championship appearances, an NIT berth, and a Big West Championship. A significant moment in his coaching career was Long Beach State's upset of No. 1 Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse. Notable players under his guidance included Bryon Russell and Lucious Harris.

Greenberg compiled a 108–100 record at South Florida before becoming head coach at Virginia Tech. During his nine seasons with the Hokies, he was named ACC Coach of the Year twice and led the team to six postseason appearances, finishing second on the school's all-time wins list with a 170–123 record. His tenure included a 22–12 season with victories over No. 5 Duke and No. 1 North Carolina, which placed the Hokies in the AP Top 25 and secured their first NCAA tournament appearance in over a decade. Over 22 years as a head coach, Greenberg achieved a 383–293 record, including four wins against No. 1 ranked teams and 11 postseason appearances.

Greenberg's move to broadcasting included joining ESPN's College GameDay Covered by State Farm as an analyst. He has contributed to ESPN's game coverage with the "Behind-the-Bench" series, offering viewers analysis from a coach's perspective. His honors include induction into the Long Beach State Hall of Fame, the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, the Five Star Basketball Camp's Hall of Fame, and receiving The Pinnacle from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
