Sean Covey

Sean Covey is a business executive, author, and keynote speaker specializing in leadership development, organizational effectiveness, and education transformation. Covey serves as president of FranklinCovey Education and executive vice president of global partnerships. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in English and University Honors and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School. Prior to his business career, Covey was the starting quarterback for the BYU football team, leading the team to two bowl games before a knee injury ended his athletic career. He has publicly discussed this experience as formative in building resilience and adaptability.

After completing his MBA, Covey joined FranklinCovey, where he has held roles including productivity practice leader, vice president of retail stores, vice president of innovations and products, executive vice president of international, and president of FranklinCovey Education. He has contributed to the development of FranklinCovey’s organizational offerings, including Focus, Leadership, "The 4 Disciplines of Execution," "The Leader in Me," and "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People." Covey oversees FranklinCovey’s international partnerships, which extend to more than 140 countries.

Covey is a Wall Street Journal and New York Times bestselling author, with more than 10 million copies of his books sold. "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens," based on the principles of "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen R. Covey, has sold over eight million copies and been translated into more than 20 languages. Covey co-authored "The 4 Disciplines of Execution" with Chris McChesney and Jim Huling, providing a methodology for organizations to achieve strategic goals.

As president of FranklinCovey Education, Covey leads the implementation of Leader in Me, a whole-school transformation model present in more than 8,000 schools across over 70 countries. He regularly speaks on topics such as leadership, school transformation, organizational culture, and goal achievement, and his work has appeared in major media outlets.
