Ryan Shazier

Ryan Shazier, a two-time Pro Bowl NFL linebacker, was selected 15th overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL Draft. Shazier is recognized for his resilience and determination following a spinal injury sustained during a game against the Bengals. After announcing his retirement, Shazier transitioned to a career in football media, calling college football games for ESPN and serving as an analyst and commentator across multiple football platforms.

Shazier founded the Ryan Shazier Fund for Spinal Rehabilitation, which supports individuals with spinal cord injuries and their caregivers by providing resources and funding to promote independent living. As a motivational speaker, Shazier addresses topics such as perseverance, leadership, and mental toughness for corporate, athletic, and nonprofit audiences.

In addition to his football career, Shazier is an author, Regional Emmy Award–winning host, and business owner. He co-founded Shazier Logistics, a Pittsburgh-based general freight brokerage firm, with his father, Vernon Shazier. Shazier also owns Shazier Agency, a life insurance company, and participates in other entrepreneurial ventures.

Shazier authored the book "Walking Miracle," an autobiography that details his recovery journey and the role of faith and positive thinking in overcoming paralysis. He hosts the podcast "Don’t Call It A Comeback" on Amazon and serves as host of "50 Phenoms," an episodic series that highlights the comeback stories of UPMC patients, demonstrating his expertise as a storyteller and on-camera host in the sports and health industries.
