Roy Hibbert Biography
Roy Hibbert is a retired professional basketball player who spent nine seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), primarily known for his time with the Indiana Pacers. Born in Queens, New York, Hibbert played college basketball at Georgetown University, where he was a standout center and earned All-American honors. Drafted 17th overall in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors and traded immediately to Indiana, Hibbert became a defensive anchor for the Pacers, earning two NBA All-Star selections in 2012 and 2014. Renowned for his shot-blocking and rim protection, he helped lead Indiana to consecutive Eastern Conference Finals appearances against the Miami Heat. After leaving the Pacers in 2015, Hibbert had shorter stints with the Los Angeles Lakers, Charlotte Hornets, and Denver Nuggets before retiring in 2018.
Off the court, he has remained involved with basketball through coaching and mentoring, leaving a legacy as one of the premier defensive big men of his era.
