Ross Bennett

Ross Bennett is a stand-up comedian known for building a career on clean, clever humor that avoids profanity, politics, and shock value. Bennett has developed a brand called "Comedy For The Rest Of Us," appealing to working-class Americans who appreciate comedy that is both accessible and politics-free. David Letterman has described Bennett's style as "clean and clever," a reputation that has followed Bennett throughout his career in the comedy industry.

Bennett's entry into comedy began with an unconventional path. After enlisting in the Army and completing Basic Training, he attended the United States Military Academy at West Point as a member of the Class of 1979 before resigning to pursue comedy. While at the Academy, Bennett performed with the Cadet Acting Troupe in productions such as "The Music Man" and "Once Upon a Mattress." He continued his theater studies at Florida Atlantic University before moving to Los Angeles, where he was discovered by Budd Friedman and began performing at The Improv. Bennett credits the San Francisco International Comedy Competition with helping him refine his stand-up material.

Bennett has performed on numerous television shows, including "The Late Show with David Letterman," Comedy Central's "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn," "Evening at the Improv," David Brenner's "Nightlife," Dick Clark's "Keep on Cruisin'," and Showtime's "Big Laff-Off." He has also appeared at major comedy festivals, including Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, Smirnoff Comedy Festival in Cape Town, South Africa, and Boston Comedy Festival. Bennett received the Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Web-Series Award at LA Webfest for his recurring role in "Addicted to Show Business."

Bennett is featured on Sirius XM's Blue Collar Comedy Channel and has a Dry Bar Comedy special, "Comedy For The Rest Of Us," with over 10 million views. He is a recurring guest on "The Bob and Tom Show," a morning radio program with a large national audience. Bennett regularly performs at comedy clubs such as Caroline's, Comic Strip Live, the Comedy Cellar, and Gotham, and has appeared at churches, country clubs, cruise ships, and corporate events both in the United States and internationally. He has opened for performers including Lucie Arnaz, Hal Linden, Melissa Manchester, and the Four Freshmen, and has toured throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.

In addition to performing, Bennett teaches "Stand-Up Comedy Boot Camp" in New York, focusing on helping comedians develop their authentic stage presence. He also instructs new comics and writers at Manhattan Comedy School. Bennett's approach emphasizes finding universal truths in everyday life and delivering them with wit, making his comedy accessible to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
