Robert Saleh

Robert Saleh has spent the majority of his professional career in the National Football League (NFL), holding multiple roles with renowned teams. His journey began with the Houston Texans, Seattle Seahawks, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Green Bay Packers before he landed his first major role as the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, a position he held from 2017 to 2020. His tenure with the 49ers was marked by the team's notable performance in total defense and passing defense in 2019. Saleh's experience culminated in his appointment as the head coach of the New York Jets in 2021, a position he held until 2024.

Despite a challenging tenure with the Jets, which resulted in a 20–36 overall coaching record and his subsequent dismissal in 2024, Saleh's resilience saw him take on a consultancy role with the Green Bay Packers later the same year. His expertise wasn't overlooked by his former team, the San Francisco 49ers, who re-hired him as their defensive coordinator in January 2025. Under his leadership, the 49ers' defensive unit was ranked 11th in the NFL for points allowed in 2025. In 2026, he was hired as the head coach for the Tennessee Titans.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Saleh made history by becoming the first Muslim head coach in the NFL when he was hired by the Jets in January 2021, marking a significant milestone in the league. His coaching career has not only enhanced his expertise in team management and defensive strategies but also placed him as a respected figure in the NFL.
