Robert Malone

Robert W. Malone is a scientist and physician recognized for his contributions to mRNA and DNA vaccine technology. While at the Salk Institute, Malone discovered in-vitro and in-vivo RNA transfection and played a key role in the development of mRNA vaccines. His research continued at Vical, where he designed the first in-vivo mammalian experiments involving mRNA. In a foundational experiment, Malone mixed strands of mRNA with lipid droplets, enabling human cells to absorb the mRNA and produce proteins, a breakthrough that later supported the development of COVID-19 vaccine strategies.

Malone holds numerous domestic and international patents in gene delivery, delivery formulations, and vaccines. He has published approximately 100 scientific articles, with more than 12,000 citations. Malone completed a fellowship at Harvard Medical School as a global clinical research scholar and has held academic positions in pathology and surgery at University of California at Davis, University of Maryland, and Armed Forces University of the Health Sciences. He has been an invited speaker at more than 50 conferences, chaired multiple scientific meetings, and served on NIAID and Department of Defense study sections. Malone is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.

With extensive experience in clinical trials, vaccine development, gene therapy, biodefense, and immunology, Malone has more than 20 years of management and leadership experience in academia, the pharmaceutical industry, and biotechnology. He contributed to emergency vaccine development, including advancing the Ebola rVSV-ZEBOV vaccine by facilitating collaboration between WHO and Pentagon leadership, recruiting Merck Vaccines, and helping secure significant funding for the project. Malone has led teams focused on clinical research design, drug development, computer modeling, and the study of repurposed drugs for COVID-19 treatment.

Malone is a prominent figure in public discussions about pandemic-era health policy and mRNA vaccine safety. He has testified before various state government entities and has been a subject of media attention for his views on vaccine policy and public health. His Wall Street Journal national bestselling book, "Lies My Gov't Told Me: And the Better Future Coming," examines the handling of data, information, and psychology during the COVID-19 pandemic, drawing on history, psychology, and economics.

Malone serves as Medical Director of The Unity Project, a coalition opposing mandated COVID vaccines for children, and as President of the Global Covid Summit, an organization of over 16,000 doctors and scientists addressing COVID-19 policy. His background as an inventor of mRNA vaccine technology and as a critic of its application provides a perspective that continues to influence discussions in the fields of vaccine development, biotechnology, and public health policy.
