Robert B. Huizinga

Dr. Robert B. Huizinga is a biotechnology executive, drug development specialist, and organizational leadership scholar with more than 20 years of experience in clinical research and pharmaceutical innovation. Prior to his consulting work, Huizinga served as vice president of clinical affairs for Isotechnika Inc. and as a clinical investigator at the University of Alberta. Before joining Isotechnika, he was an investigator in nephrology and transplantation clinical trials, participating in more than 60 clinical trials from Phase I through Phase IV and contributing to the development of multiple pharmaceutical compounds.

Throughout his career, Huizinga has published articles in medical journals, including New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, and American Journal of Transplantation. He is the principal of Reformation Consulting Services and was formerly a co-founder and executive vice president of Aurinia Pharmaceuticals Inc., where he led the clinical development and FDA approval of voclosporin, marketed as "Lupkynis," which achieved first-year sales of $100 million. Aurinia is one of only three companies in Canada to receive FDA New Chemical Entity drug approval, and Huizinga is among the few individuals to have overseen a drug development process from inception to approval. During his tenure, he contributed to increasing U.S. and Canadian shareholder value from under $10 million to a peak of $4.2 billion over 10 years. Huizinga has also raised more than $500 million on the public markets. His work on voclosporin earned him a nomination for the Prix Galien USA Award, recognized as one of the pharmaceutical industry's highest honors.

In addition to his scientific work, Huizinga has developed a career in leadership development and authorship. He holds a doctorate in organizational leadership from Regent University, has published in leadership journals, and serves as editor of two texts on leadership. He also holds a master's degree in clinical epidemiology, nephrology certification, and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau. Huizinga has served as an adjunct professor at Manna University and has held positions with The King's University and EQUIP Leadership. He is the founder of RenalPro, a moderated forum for renal professionals.

Huizinga was elected as a director of Kane Biotech Inc. and appointed executive chair of the company. In this role, he focuses on the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, strengthening partnerships with existing clients, and fostering relationships that support new business and strategic acquisitions. With experience spanning clinical care, drug development, executive leadership, and leadership development, Huizinga is committed to advancing the healthcare industry through collaborative relationships and innovative solutions.
