Joseph “Rev. Run” Simmons rose from humble beginnings to become a pioneering force in hip‑hop and a beacon of family and faith. As one of the founding members of Run‑D.M.C., alongside Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels and Jam Master Jay, he helped bring rap into mainstream culture with groundbreaking hits like “It’s Like That”, “King of Rock”, and the iconic “Walk This Way” collaboration with Aerosmith. The group’s edgy sound, signature Adidas style, and crossover success transformed hip‑hop and earned the band a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Following Jam Master Jay’s tragic passing in 2002, Simmons embraced his spiritual side, becoming an ordained Pentecostal minister and rechristening himself “Rev. Run.” He channeled his faith into his art—releasing the solo album Distortion in 2005—and into his public persona, offering daily affirmations to a devoted social media following. That same year, he began starring in "Run’s House" on MTV, a six‑season reality show that showcased his wife Justine and their six children, portraying him as a devoted father grounded in family values and spirituality.
