Quinta Brunson

Quinta Brunson is an actress, comedian, writer, and producer known for her work in television comedy and digital media. Brunson first gained recognition with her self-produced Instagram series "Girl Who Has Never Been on a Nice Date," which became a viral sensation and launched her career in digital entertainment. She began her career at The Second City in Chicago and later joined BuzzFeed as a video producer, where she developed and sold two web series: the scripted comedy "Broke" for YouTube Red and "Up for Adoption" for Verizon's go90 platform.

After her tenure at BuzzFeed, Brunson wrote and acted in the first season of HBO's "A Black Lady Sketch Show," further establishing her presence in television comedy. She is the creator, writer, executive producer, and star of "Abbott Elementary," a mockumentary-style sitcom set in a Philadelphia public school and broadcast on ABC. The series draws inspiration from her mother's teaching career and is named after Brunson's sixth-grade teacher. "Abbott Elementary" features an ensemble cast including Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tyler James Williams, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, Janelle James, and William Stanford Davis. The show has been recognized for revitalizing the broadcast sitcom format and has received multiple Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for Brunson.

Brunson has achieved several milestones in the television industry, including being the first Black woman to be nominated three times in the comedy category at the Primetime Emmy Awards and the first Black woman in over four decades to win Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. "Abbott Elementary" has earned numerous accolades, including Primetime Emmy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and a Peabody Award. Brunson has also been named to the Time 100 Most Influential People list.
