Philip Reeves

Philip Reeves is an entrepreneur and private equity leader, serving as managing partner and co-founder of Apis & Heritage Capital Partners. Reeves guides the firm's use of employee ownership models, particularly Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), to address the racial wealth gap and support wealth building for workers of color. He oversees all aspects of the firm's activities, including investment strategy and capital raises, and played a key role in the launch of the flagship Legacy Fund I, which raised more than $58 million to support employee-led buyouts in the service sector and real economy businesses.

Reeves has more than a decade of experience scaling small businesses across private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Before founding Apis & Heritage, he led business development and mergers and acquisitions for a government contractor, managed an accelerator program for 1863 Ventures focused on minority- and women-owned businesses, and served as manager of small business technology and innovation for the District of Columbia. His career began in private equity at Lehman Brothers, and he has held principal roles at Asialantic Global Advisors and Mercantile Strategies.

Reeves is a public speaker who has appeared at major events such as the Aspen Ideas Festival, sharing insights on economic empowerment and innovative ownership models. He has expertise in business development, corporate finance, and executive management, and served as president (curator) of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Washington, DC Hub. Reeves’s work has received national attention for its impact on legacy preservation, wealth creation, and social equity, positioning him as a voice in the movement for inclusive economic opportunity.
