Oliver Blume

Oliver Blume serves as chairman of the board of management of Volkswagen AG, one of the world's largest automotive manufacturers. Blume holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering and has been with Volkswagen Group since 1994. After earning his degree in mechanical engineering from TU Braunschweig, he completed his doctoral thesis in vehicle engineering at the Institute of Vehicle Technology at Tongji University in Shanghai. His technical background and extensive operational experience across multiple continents position him as a leading authority on automotive innovation, mobility, and industrial transformation.

Blume began his career in the automotive industry through the international trainee program at Audi AG. He held senior management roles including head of body construction for the A3, head of the Audi AG pilot plant, and head of planning and the pilot series centre at SEAT S.A. in Barcelona. He later moved to Wolfsburg as head of production planning at the Volkswagen brand and became a member of the executive board for production and logistics at Porsche AG. Throughout his career, Blume has held various management positions, contributing to advancements in automotive manufacturing, production planning, and operational efficiency.

As CEO of Porsche AG, Blume led the brand through a significant period of transformation. He oversaw the launch of the "Taycan," Porsche's first fully electric vehicle, and managed Porsche's initial public offering on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, which was among the largest in Europe by market capitalization. Under his leadership, Porsche achieved substantial growth in revenue and profit, with record deliveries in several global regions.

Blume was appointed chairman of the board of management of Volkswagen AG, where he has guided the company through challenges such as declining sales in China, the transition to electric vehicles, and cost reduction negotiations with German unions. Volkswagen Group is undergoing a major transformation, evolving from a traditional automotive company into a software-centric global leader in sustainable mobility. Blume oversees a portfolio of ten brands, including Volkswagen, Audi, Lamborghini, Bentley, and Porsche, focusing on innovation, electrification, and digitalization in the automotive sector.

Blume has been recognized for his leadership in the automotive industry, including receiving the CEO Today Global Award. He continues to play a central role in shaping the future of mobility and advancing Volkswagen Group's strategy in a rapidly changing global market.
