Noah Horowitz

Noah Horowitz is an American art historian recognized for his expertise in the global contemporary art market. He holds a doctorate in art history from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London and is the author of "Art of the Deal: Contemporary Art in a Global Financial Market," published by Princeton University Press. While completing his doctorate, Horowitz worked as an associate at the Serpentine Gallery in London, where he was mentored by co-director Hans Ulrich Obrist. His writings and commentary on art and economics have appeared in publications including The New York Times, Financial Times, Texte zur Kunst, and The Art Newspaper.

Horowitz's career in the art world includes roles that have shaped how art is bought, sold, and experienced globally. He oversaw the world's first online-only art fair, VIP Art Fair, and served as executive director of New York's Armory Show. He is credited with revitalizing the Armory Show, increasing gallery participation and strengthening its position in the art fair landscape. Horowitz later joined Art Basel as Director Americas, overseeing its annual December edition in Miami Beach and establishing Art Basel's presence in the United States and New York. During this period, he launched the Global Art Market report, written by economist Clare McAndrew.

Horowitz moved to Sotheby's as Worldwide Head of Gallery & Private Dealer Services, where he directed business strategy and relationships with the international dealer community. He subsequently returned to Art Basel as CEO, leading the organization and guiding its expansion. Under Horowitz's leadership, Art Basel has grown to include fairs in Miami Beach, Hong Kong, and Paris, with additional editions planned. His achievements include the launch of the Art Market report, the expansion of Art Basel's digital initiatives, and the strengthening of its global reputation.
