Niger Innis

Niger Innis is an American activist, political commentator, and civil rights advocate with a career at the intersection of conservative politics and community empowerment. Innis serves as the national spokesperson for the Congress of Racial Equality, one of the oldest civil rights organizations in the United States. The son of Roy Innis, the long-serving National Chairman of the organization, Innis continues a family legacy rooted in civil rights activism while establishing his own profile as a conservative voice.

Innis's involvement with the Congress of Racial Equality spans a range of roles, including Deputy Director of the Washington, D.C., chapter, Coordinator of Political Affairs, Director of the D.C. chapter, Special Assistant to the National Chairman, and Director of Fundraising. As national spokesperson, he advocates for policies aligned with conservative principles, focusing on issues such as energy affordability and educational reform, and participates in initiatives addressing challenges faced by minority communities. Innis also serves as co-chairman of the Affordable Power Alliance, a coalition of minority ministerial organizations focused on resource issues, and is the co-founder of the New America organization. He has worked with Senior Citizen Advocates and serves on the National Rifle Association's Membership Committee.

Innis is a regular contributor on Fox News Channel and CNN, and was among the first political and social commentators for MSNBC. He has also served as a political commentator for National Public Radio and provided commentary for ABC News, CBS News, BBC, CBC, and other major media outlets.

On the international stage, Innis has led democracy-promoting delegations to Nigeria to assist the transition from military to civilian rule, served as a delegate to the American-German Young Leaders Conference in Hamburg, Germany, and led a Congress of Racial Equality delegation to East Africa to promote peace and security for Sudan, meeting with heads of state from Uganda, Kenya, and Sudan, as well as John Garang of the Sudanese People's Liberation Army. Innis was selected to serve on the American Swiss Foundation Young Leaders Conference in Zurich, Switzerland, and was elected to the United Nations Executive Committee of NGOs, overseeing the activity of UN-authorized NGOs worldwide.

Innis has participated in electoral politics, entering the Republican primary for Nevada's 4th Congressional District after receiving the endorsement of the Nevada Republican State Convention, and was elected to the Executive Board of the Nevada NAACP. He serves on the board of the American Conservative Union, American Media Institute, Accuracy in Media, and the National Black Chamber of Commerce. Innis is a founding member of Project 21 of the National Center for Public Policy Research and sits on the National Rifle Association's Membership, Outreach, Nominations, and Ethics Committees. Through decades of advocacy, media engagement, and organizational leadership, Innis has established a distinctive presence in American public life, contributing to discussions on civil rights, conservative policy, and minority community issues.
