Nic Stone

Nic Stone established herself in the literary world with her debut novel, "Dear Martin," a critical and commercial success that debuted at #4 on the New York Times bestseller list, and was a finalist for the William C. Morris award in 2017. The book made the New York Times bestseller list again in 2020, this time claiming the #1 spot for Young Adult Paperbacks. Stone proceeded to broaden her readership with her middle-grade debut, "Clean Getaway," which debuted at #5 on the Children's Middle Grade Hardcover New York Times bestseller list, and received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly and Booklist.

Stone's work extends beyond her own original creations, as evidenced by her contributions to the Marvel universe. In 2020, she authored a novel centered on Shuri from Marvel's "Black Panther," with sequels following in 2021 and 2022. Further demonstrating her versatility and collaborative spirit, Stone co-authored "Blackout" in 2021, with a companion novel "Whiteout" published in 2023. Her collaborative endeavors also include a young adult companion to Ibram X. Kendi's book, titled "How to Be a (Young) Antiracist," that was published in the same year.

In addition to her prolific writing career, Stone has ventured into other forms of media and public engagement. In 2022, she hosted a six-episode podcast series, "The History of Marvel Comics: Black Panther," further establishing her connection to the Marvel universe. Stone also carried her literary insights beyond the written and audio format, serving as the keynote speaker at the AASL National Conference in 2023.
