Nely Galan

Nely Galán is a Cuban-American media executive, Emmy Award-winning producer, and advocate for women's empowerment who has contributed significantly to the entertainment industry. Referred to as the "Tropical Tycoon" by The New York Times, Galán became the first Latina to lead the entertainment division of a major American television network as President of Entertainment at Telemundo. Her career began in high school when she submitted an article to Seventeen, leading to a guest editorship and a permanent position. By age 22, Galán was the youngest radio station manager in the United States, overseeing the Spanish-language WNJU channel 47.

An immigrant and self-made entrepreneur in both media and real estate, Galán has produced more than 700 episodes of television in Spanish and English, including the FOX reality series "The Swan." Through her company, Galán Entertainment, she has helped launch more than 10 television channels internationally for companies such as HBO, ESPN, FOX, MGM, and Sony. Her production credits include the comedy specials "Loco Slam" and the "Bravo Awards," which recognize Latino achievements in entertainment. Galán also contributed to the creation and launch of the Fox Latin American Channel, Fox Kids Network in Latin America, and Fox Sports Américas. She appeared on the first season of the NBC series "The Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump," becoming the first Latina participant.

Galán is the founder and president of Santa Clara LLC, a real estate development and investment firm with commercial and residential holdings in several states. She completed a master's and doctorate in clinical psychology, focusing on the psychology of money in multicultural communities. Her financial podcast, "Money Maker/Mi Mundo Rico" on Money News Network, provides financial literacy and entrepreneurship insights for diverse audiences.

Galán established The Adelante Movement, a nonprofit organization dedicated to training and empowering Latinas to become entrepreneurs. The initiative has expanded to include women from various backgrounds, reflecting the growing influence of multicultural women in business. Galán is the author of the New York Times bestselling book "Self Made: Becoming Empowered, Self-Reliant, and Rich in Every Way," available in English, Spanish, and Mandarin. She is recognized for her work as a Latina producer in Hollywood, her achievements as a media and real estate entrepreneur, and her advocacy for the economic empowerment of Latinas.
