Nastia Liukin

Nastia Liukin is recognized as one of the most decorated American gymnasts in Olympic history. At the Beijing Olympic Games, Liukin won five medals, including the individual all-around gold, more than any other gymnast at those Games. Her Olympic medal collection includes one gold in the all-around, three silver medals in the team, balance beam, and uneven bars events, and one bronze in the floor exercise. With five medals at the Beijing Games, she tied Mary Lou Retton and Shannon Miller for the most medals by an American gymnast at a single Games and became only the third American woman to earn the individual all-around title.

Liukin's journey to Olympic success was built on years of elite competition and resilience. She won her first U.S. senior national title and earned gold on the uneven bars and balance beam, as well as silver on the floor exercise at the World Championships. Liukin added two more golds in the team event and balance beam at the World Championships, won five world silvers, nine senior national titles, and six golds at the Pacific Rim Championships, overcoming an ankle injury that required surgery. She holds four gold and five silver medals in world championship competition and is also a gold and two-time silver medalist from the Pan American Games. Her achievements have been recognized by honors such as Sportswoman of the Year by the United States Olympic Committee and Athlete of the Year by the International Gymnastics Federation.

After retiring from competitive gymnastics, Liukin established the Nastia Liukin Cup, an annual gymnastics competition in the United States for Level 10 gymnasts who qualify at designated invitationals. Many former competitors at the Cup have advanced to elite and international competition, including Olympic all-around champion Gabby Douglas and World all-around champion Morgan Hurd. Liukin also created the Nastia Liukin Fund in partnership with USA Gymnastics, supporting fitness-oriented programs for young people and providing financial assistance to gymnastics clubs and athletes.

Liukin has developed a multifaceted career as a sports broadcaster, author, and motivational speaker. She serves as an analyst for NBC Sports Group during gymnastics coverage and has worked as a special correspondent for NBC's The Today Show. Liukin released her autobiography, "Finding My Shine," and appeared on the reality show "Special Forces" on FOX. As a motivational speaker, she shares her experiences and strategies with Fortune 500 companies and other organizations, focusing on goal-setting and empowerment.

Liukin has been inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Hall of Fame. A graduate of New York University, she has transitioned from Olympic gymnast to brand spokesperson, sports broadcaster, and motivational speaker, applying the discipline and competitive spirit from her gymnastics career to her professional pursuits.
