
Munroe Bergdorf is an internationally renowned activist, model, writer and broadcaster. Appointed as British Vogue Contributing Editor in 2022, UN Women Changemaker since 2019, Bergdorf has established a notable presence in the fashion world, having walked several catwalks for brands including Gypsy Sport at both London and NYC Fashion Weeks. She's also a proud ambassador for gender variant and transgender youth charity Mermaids, a founding consultant of L’Oreal Paris’ UK Diversity and Inclusion Board, host of the critically acclaimed podcast ‘The Way We Are’ for Spotify, fronts MTV hit show Queerpiphany and is soon to release her highly anticipated debut book "Transitional" via Bloomsbury in 2023. She has regularly appeared as a guest commentator on ITV's "Good Morning Britain" and "This Morning."
Bergdorf’s media career to date includes bylines and editing roles such as LGBTQ+ editor at Dazed Beauty, plus writing credits across British Vogue, Grazia, i-D, Evening Standard and The Guardian. She also appeared in the Channel 4 documentary "What Makes a Woman," which aired in May 2018 and has been involved in activism specifically related to Black British and transgender communities. In September 2017, the UK-based Illamasqua hired Bergdorf as the face of its Beauty Spotlight campaign, which concerned gender fluidity.
As a model, Bergdorf has worked with a range of brands including Mulberry, Gypsy Sport and The Blonds and has covered a range of media titles including British Vogue, TIME, TeenVogue, Hunger, Stylist, Time Out London, Attitude magazine, GLAMOUR, Gay Times, GQ Style – she also made history appearing as the first trans cover star of "Cosmopolitan UK" magazine to celebrate their 50th anniversary in January 2022. She was also recognized as the first transgender model in the UK for L'Oréal.
Awards and accolades for Bergdorf include Glamour Women of the Year ‘Beauty Gamechanger’ 2022, TIME Magazine Next Generation Leaders 2020, Glamour ‘Gamechanger’ 2020, Attitude ‘Hero of the Year’, Gay Times Honours 2021, and ‘Changemaker of the Year’ at the 2018 Cosmopolitan Awards. She was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Brighton in 2019 and in November 2021, Bergdorf was recognized with the GAY TIMES Honour for British Community Trailblazer at the fifth annual GAY TIMES Honours celebration in London. In November 2023, UN Women named her as its first "UK Champion."
