Mitch Ammons

Mitch Ammons is an Austin-based realtor and endurance athlete recognized for his work in the running and recovery communities. Ammons experienced years of substance use, including heroin and other drugs, as a means of coping with emotional challenges. This period led to strained relationships and a loss of self-worth. His introduction to running marked a turning point, providing a new outlet and path to recovery. By sharing his experiences with addiction and sobriety, Ammons aims to connect with others facing similar struggles and encourage them to seek support.

After achieving sobriety, Ammons dedicated himself to competitive running. He joined Bat City, a prominent run club in Austin, and built a marathon record that includes a 2:24:19 finish at the Chicago Marathon, a 2:16:52 in California, and a 2:16:01 at the McKirdy Micro in New York, qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials. At the Trials, he completed the marathon in 2:26:03. Ammons also placed second overall at the Indianapolis Marathon and has won local races such as the Cap10K and the Austin Half Marathon.

Expanding into ultramarathons, Ammons won Bare Performance Nutrition's Survive the Night 50-miler in six hours and 35 minutes. He later competed in Bare Performance Nutrition's G1M Last Man Standing Ultramarathon, covering 126 miles and finishing third. Ammons set a marathon personal record of 2:14:48 at the California International Marathon, qualifying again for the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials. He is a two-time Olympic Trials qualifier and a two-time Top Producer in Austin real estate.

Ammons advocates for the importance of community in recovery and personal development. He discusses the impact of the 12-step program and credits fitness and community support as key factors in his ongoing sobriety. Through public speaking and engagement, Ammons highlights the role of discipline, purpose, and connection in overcoming adversity and achieving personal and professional goals in both real estate and athletics.
