Mike Judge

Mike Judge is a writer, director, animator, producer, and voice actor best known for his sharp, often satirical takes on American culture, work life, and bureaucracy. Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Judge initially pursued a more conventional path, earning a degree in physics from the University of California, San Diego. Before entering entertainment, he worked as an engineer, an experience that would later inform much of his comedic perspective on corporate life.

Judge first gained widespread attention in the early 1990s with the animated shorts featuring Beavis and Butt-Head, which evolved into the hit MTV series "Beavis and Butt-Head." The show’s irreverent humor and critique of youth culture made it a defining program of the decade and established Judge as a distinctive comedic voice. He followed this success with the animated sitcom "King of the Hill," co-created with Greg Daniels, which offered a more grounded, character-driven look at suburban Texas life and earned critical acclaim during its long run.

In addition to television, Judge built a notable film career marked by cult favorites that lampoon modern life. His 1999 film "Office Space" drew directly from his own experiences in corporate environments, becoming a touchstone for disillusioned office workers. He continued exploring similar themes with "Idiocracy," a dystopian comedy that has since gained a reputation for its prescient social commentary, and "Extract," which examined small business ownership and everyday frustrations.

Judge returned to television with "Silicon Valley," an HBO comedy that premiered in 2014 and ran for six seasons. The series offered a biting yet nuanced portrayal of the tech industry. Widely praised for its authenticity and humor, "Silicon Valley" reinforced his reputation as a creator who can distill complex cultural and professional ecosystems into accessible, incisive storytelling.
