Michel Martin

Michel Martin is an Emmy Award-winning host of "Morning Edition." She previously served as weekend host of "All Things Considered" and hosted the podcast “Consider This Saturday.” She also created and led the live event series “Michel Martin: Going There” in partnership with NPR member stations.

Martin joined NPR in 2006 and launched “Tell Me More,” a daily national news and talk show that aired from 2007 to 2014, bringing diverse voices and perspectives into national conversations. With more than 25 years in journalism, she began her career in print at The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal, where she served as White House correspondent, before moving to broadcast journalism.

From 1992 to 2006, Martin worked at ABC News, serving as a correspondent for Nightline and contributing to major coverage including the Sept. 11 attacks, the Anita Hill–Clarence Thomas hearings, and Hurricane Katrina. She won an Emmy Award for her reporting on the international campaign to ban landmines and earned additional Emmy nominations for her work.

Her honors include the Silver Gavel Award from the American Bar Association, the Joan Barone Award for Excellence in Washington-based National Affairs/Public Policy Broadcasting, and the Candace Award for Communications. In 2019, she was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences for outstanding achievement in journalism and received PMJA’s 2021 Leo C. Lee Award.
