Michael Lynton

Michael Lynton is presently the chairman of Snap Inc., a role he assumed in 2017, and the chairman of Warner Music Group since 2019. His career in the entertainment industry is diverse and wide-ranging, with a tenure as chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment adding to his credentials. Under Lynton's stewardship, the company received numerous Best Picture nominations from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for films such as "American Hustle," "Captain Phillips," "The Social Network," "Moneyball," and "Zero Dark Thirty". His oversight extended to popular movie franchises like "The Amazing Spider-Man," "Grown Ups," "The Smurfs," and "James Bond".

Lynton's influence was not limited to the silver screen. He also led Sony Pictures Television, which produced well-received and award-winning programs such as "Breaking Bad," "Justified," "The Blacklist," "Shark Tank," and "The Dr. Oz Show". He was instrumental in Sony Pictures attaining a number one position in 2012's worldwide box office market share and played a pivotal role in the expansion of Sony Pictures Entertainment's universe, notably with projects like "The Smurf's 2". Furthermore, his leadership was key in Sony's acquisition of EMI, which resulted in the creation of the largest music publisher at the time.

Apart from his corporate roles, Lynton is an active participant in several organizations and boards, including the Council on Foreign Relations, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the American Film Institute. He is also involved with the Harvard Board of Overseers and joined the board of Snapchat in June 2013. In 2018, he co-founded the publisher Lezen with his sister Lili and acquired Arcadia Publishing.
