Michael F. Mascolo

Michael F. Mascolo, PhD, is a developmental psychologist, educator, speaker and conflict resolution specialist whose work focuses on human development, dialogue across differences and collaborative problem solving. Dr. Mascolo is a professor of psychology at Merrimack College and founder and executive director of Common Ground Institute, a nonprofit organization devoted to helping individuals, organizations and communities bridge interpersonal, social and political divides. He received his doctorate from the University at Albany and completed postdoctoral work at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Over a career spanning nearly four decades, Dr. Mascolo has taught, written and spoken extensively on human development, conflict management, leadership, education, morality and relational processes.

Dr. Mascolo is the author or editor of multiple books, among them, "From Conflict to Collaboration," "Handbook of Integrative Psychological Science," "8 Keys to Old School Parenting for Modern Day Families," and "Bridging Political Divides." He has published more than 100 scholarly articles and chapters. Dr. Mascolo's speaking and consulting work has addressed topics such as constructive dialogue, collaborative leadership, organizational culture, parenting, education and political polarization. Through workshops, public dialogues, podcasts and live demonstrations, he has helped audiences learn practical methods for transforming conflict into opportunities for growth, understanding and innovation. Dr. Mascolo's work has been featured through Common Ground Institute.
