Maya Moore

Maya Moore's career in professional basketball was marked by notable successes and a number of accolades. Moore played for the Minnesota Lynx in the WNBA from 2011 to 2018, during which time she helped the team secure four WNBA championships (2011, 2013, 2015, 2017). Her skill and leadership on the court were recognized with the WNBA Finals MVP award in 2013 and the WNBA MVP award in 2014. In addition to her domestic success, Moore also made her mark in international basketball, winning two EuroLeague Women championships (2012, 2018) and three WCBA championships (2013–2015). She also represented the USA on the international stage, earning two Olympic gold medals (2012, 2016).

In addition to her professional career, Moore has also been recognized for her efforts in social justice activism. In 2017, she founded "Win with Justice" to advocate for prosecutorial reform and played a key role in the release of Jonathan Irons, who had been wrongfully convicted. Her activism was highlighted in the 2021 ESPN Films documentary "Breakaway". Moore's impact on and off the court has been recognized by various organizations and publications. In 2020, she was included in Time's 100 Most Influential People, and in 2021, she was awarded the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage for her efforts in criminal justice reform.

Moore's legacy in professional basketball is further underlined by the fact that her jersey number, 23, has been retired by the Minnesota Lynx. Additionally, she was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2024 and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2025. Outside of her professional career and activism, Moore has also made strides in the sports industry, becoming the first female basketball player signed to the Jordan Brand. From her accomplishments on the court to her impact off of it, Moore's career is marked by her commitment to excellence and justice.
