Matt Nagy

Matt Nagy, a prominent figure in football, began his career as a player for the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens from 1997 to 2000, during which he set several school records and was named a third-team I-AA All-American. He later joined the Arena Football League, starting six games for the New York Dragons in his rookie year and setting franchise records for the Georgia Force. Nagy's career in the AFL, where he recorded over 18,000 passing yards, 374 touchdown throws, 55 interceptions, and 22 rushing touchdowns, laid the foundation for his transition into coaching.

Following his playing career, Nagy served as a quarterbacks coach at high schools before moving into the NFL. He worked with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs, initially as an assistant to head coach Andy Reid. In 2018, Nagy was hired as the head coach for the Chicago Bears, leading the team to a 12–4 record in his first season and receiving Coach of the Year honors from the Pro Football Writers Association and Associated Press. After four seasons with the Bears, Nagy returned to the Kansas City Chiefs as an offensive coordinator, contributing to the team's victories in Super Bowl LVII and LVIII. In 2026, he joined the New York Giants as their new offensive coordinator.

Known for his creative coaching style, Nagy introduced a variation of the West Coast offense during his tenure with the Bears, making significant use of the run-pass option (RPO). His strategies resulted in the Chiefs averaging 28.6 points per game during the final stretch of the 2017 regular season. Beyond his technical prowess, Nagy is recognized for his positive influence on team morale. He encourages individualism and expression in the sport, mirroring Joe Maddon's "Be You" philosophy, and has introduced celebratory traditions like "Club Dub" and the Sweep the Sheds Award.
