Mary Carillo

Mary Carillo, a former professional tennis player, transitioned to a successful career as a sportscaster after winning the 1977 French Open mixed doubles title with John McEnroe. Carillo's expertise and passion for sports have led her to diverse roles within the industry, from working as an analyst for Tennis on NBC and a reporter for NBC Olympic broadcasts to co-hosting the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in 2009, 2013, and 2016. She has also contributed as a commentator for Hallmark Channel specials such as "Paw Star Game" and "Kitten Bowl".

Carillo's candid and humorous commentary style has earned her multiple accolades, including Best Commentator by Tennis Magazine and Broadcaster of the Year by the Women's Tennis Association. Her contribution to tennis extends beyond broadcasting, as evidenced by her three authored books: "Tennis My Way," "Rick Elstein's Tennis Kinetics: With Martina Navratilova," and "Tennis Confidential II: More of Today's Greatest Players, Matches, and Controversies". In addition, she served on the Women's Tennis Association's Board of Directors and was named President of USTA Serves – Foundation for Academics, Character and Excellence in 2010.

Over the years, Carillo's work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Peabody Award, Sports Emmy Awards, and the prestigious ITF's 2015 Philippee Chatrier Award for her outstanding contribution to tennis. Her reporting has not been confined to sports; she has also been recognized with the 2010 Dick Schaap Award for Outstanding Journalism, becoming the first female recipient. In 2018, her successful career culminated in her induction into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
