Mark C. Zweig is an entrepreneur, management consultant, author, and educator known as the founder of Zweig Group, a management consulting, publishing, research, media, and training firm serving the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. Zweig began his consulting career by establishing Mark Zweig & Associates, which later became Zweig White and subsequently Zweig Group. The firm has been recognized for its growth and was named to the Inc. 500 List of Fastest-Growing Privately-Held Companies. Zweig Group is recognized for its work in enhancing business performance for architecture, engineering, planning, construction, and environmental consulting firms.
Zweig sold the company to a private equity firm and relocated to Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he began teaching entrepreneurship at the Walton College of Business. After a change in company ownership, Zweig returned to lead Zweig Group, working with Sonya Stout to restore the firm's profitability and reacquire it from its lender. Under his leadership, Zweig Group was again recognized on the Inc. 500/5000 list, reflecting significant growth and turnaround in business performance. Zweig is also the founder of Mark Zweig, Inc., a design/build/development company that earned a place on the Inc. 500/5000 List during the real estate recession.
Throughout his career, Zweig has advised thousands of CEOs and managers of AEC firms in the United States and internationally, providing expertise in strategic planning, ownership and leadership transition, mergers and acquisitions, and marketing. He created "The Zweig Letter," a management newsletter for the architecture and engineering industry, and served as publisher of Civil + Structural Engineer Magazine. Zweig is the author of more than a dozen books on management and business topics for AEC firms, including "Confessions of an Entrepreneur: Simple Wisdom for Starting, Running, and Growing a Business," which received the Goody Award for Best New General Book on Entrepreneurship. He holds an MBA and a BS in organizational behavior from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and has been recognized by the university's College of Business.
In addition to his business activities, Zweig is an educator and community leader. He serves as Entrepreneur-in-Residence in the Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Venture Innovation Department at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Zweig is also chair of the Vistage NWA Groups and co-founder of the podcast "Big Talk About Small Business." He was appointed chief operating officer of Janus Motorcycles, reflecting his ongoing involvement in business management and his interest in motorcycles. Zweig has delivered numerous talks and seminars on entrepreneurship, business management, and organizational growth to audiences of varying sizes.
