Marcos Hashimoto

Dr. Marcos Hashimoto is a scholar, educator, and practitioner specializing in entrepreneurship, corporate entrepreneurship, and innovation. Hashimoto holds a doctorate and a master's degree in business administration from EAESP/FGV, with research focused on corporate entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial education. His academic background is complemented by two decades of corporate experience, including positions at Cargill Agrícola and Citibank, providing a grounded perspective on building entrepreneurial cultures within organizations.

Hashimoto serves as managing director of the Turner School of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Bradley University in Illinois, where he coordinates programs such as competitions, mentorship initiatives, and the "Innovation for All" Living Learning Community. He teaches courses including Entrepreneurial Mindset, Entrepreneurial Startup, and Entrepreneurial Growth, and mentors participants in the Smart Start program of the Greater Peoria Economic Development Center and the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization. Prior to his role at Bradley, Hashimoto was director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at Millikin University and associate professor of entrepreneurship at the University of Indianapolis.

Hashimoto has played a significant role in institution-building, conceiving and implementing the Center for Creativity and Entrepreneurship at FAAP and contributing to the development and launch of the Center for Entrepreneurship at FGV (GV-CENN). He founded and co-founded centers at two leading business schools in Brazil and, through his consulting company, assisted in the creation of 13 centers for Brazilian universities. As a practitioner, Hashimoto has founded or co-founded four for-profit ventures and one nonprofit organization, including a consulting company in business and entrepreneurship that operated for 14 years.

Hashimoto has published 30 peer-reviewed journal articles, 39 peer-reviewed conference presentations, four books, and five book chapters. His research covers topics such as female entrepreneurship, innovation for small businesses, and challenges faced by entrepreneurs. He is visiting professor of entrepreneurship at Campo Limpo Paulista University in Brazil and adjunct editor of the IberoAmerican Journal of Entrepreneurship and Small Business. His research has been cited more than 1,400 times, reflecting his influence in global entrepreneurship literature.

Hashimoto is the author of books including "Espírito Empreendedor nas Organizações," "Lições de Empreendedorismo," "Práticas de Empreendedorismo: Casos e Planos de Negócios," and "Empreendedorismo: Plano de Negócio em 40 Lições." He has served as a visiting professor at University of Texas at San Antonio and Universidad de los Andes in Colombia, and as a mentor in Stanford University's REE Fellows program. Hashimoto contributes a cross-cultural perspective to discussions on fostering entrepreneurial thinking within organizations.
