Manteo Mitchell Biography
Manteo Mitchell, a sprinter and bobsledder, has built a diverse and accomplished career in both track and field and winter sports. He has participated in a range of events, including the 200m, 400m, and 4 × 400m relay. Mitchell's prowess on the track is evident in his wins at various prestigious events. He clinched a gold medal at the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships in the Men's 4×400 metres relay. Adding to his accolades, Mitchell also emerged victorious in the men's 400 meters at the 2015 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Despite facing adversities, Mitchell has shown immense resilience and determination. At the 2012 London Olympics, he earned a silver medal in the 4×400 m relay, notwithstanding a broken fibula during the qualifiers. His passion for sports extended beyond the track when he ventured into bobsleigh in 2021. By the end of 2022, Mitchell had already made his mark in the Bobsleigh World Cup.
Further enhancing his bobsleigh career, Mitchell achieved the best American result since 2013 at the IBSF World Championships, finishing fifth in the two-man event. Currently under the guidance of coaches Danny Williamson and David Pickett, he was initially encouraged to try bobsleigh by Aron McGuire, CEO of the United States Bobsled and Skeleton Federation.
