
Lorne Rubis is an executive, author, and cultural strategist with more than four decades of experience in leadership and organizational transformation across North America and Europe. Rubis has held various C-suite roles, focusing on workplace culture, leadership development, and change management. His career includes executive positions such as working directly for the chairman and CEO of US WEST, serving as chief operating officer of NASDAQ-listed technology company ZONES, and vice president of operations with the Los Angeles Kings. While with the Kings, Rubis improved business operations and oversaw the development of Staples Center and its premium seating strategy.
Rubis joined ATB Financial as chief people officer, where he led initiatives to enhance employee engagement and workplace culture. He directed the company-wide transition to Google's G Suite, transforming collaboration and communication across the organization. Later, as chief evangelist at ATB, Rubis was responsible for leading organizational change and strengthening the company's presence in local markets. Under his leadership, ATB received recognition as a top workplace in Canada.
Rubis also served as chief culture and transformation officer at NorQuest College, where he implemented his IcE10 Framework for cultural initiatives. The institution was recognized as one of Canada's 10 most admired cultures. He co-founded Belongify, an organization focused on advancing belonging and inclusion in the workplace. Rubis advises CEOs from start-ups to established corporations in both the private and public sectors.
As a published author and thought leader in workplace culture, Rubis has reached global audiences with his insights on organizational transformation, employee engagement, and leadership. He is the author of "The Character Triangle" and co-hosts the "Culture Cast" podcast. Rubis teaches EMBA courses on culture and strategic human resources at the University of Alberta and has taught at Harvard. His contributions to the human resources community have been recognized with the Ivey School of Business / HRD Magazine Canadian Lifetime Achievement Award and inclusion in HRD Magazine's Global 100 list of top HR leaders. Rubis is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors, serves on the board of FortisAlberta Inc., participates in Covenant Health's Innovation Committee, and mentors with The Unreasonable Group.
