Liz Caselli-Mechael

Liz Caselli-Mechael is a communications strategist with experience spanning global corporations, international development, and mission-driven nonprofits. Caselli-Mechael began her career working on food security and agriculture initiatives in the developing world. Her background includes international agricultural and nutrition development, focusing on public-private partnerships in agriculture across Kenya, Rwanda, Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, and Honduras through the USAID Feed the Future initiative. She later moved into policy and advocacy, leading consumer communication and digital strategy as the director of issues management at the International Food Information Council.

Caselli-Mechael spent more than eight years at Nestlé, advancing from digital corporate communications manager to head of digital and content – AVP (Global Corporate), where she led global digital marketing initiatives. While leading Nestlé's U.S. content and digital communications, she developed the company's social media presence around culture and sustainability, built in-house content development capabilities, and received recognition as Best Content Marketing Program by the Rally Awards. Outside her corporate role, Caselli-Mechael coached executives on content and thought leadership strategy and served as chairman of the Miriam's Kitchen nonprofit board, which works to end chronic homelessness.

After her time at Nestlé, Caselli-Mechael joined the humanitarian sector as vice president of marketing and communications at World Central Kitchen, where she was responsible for external communications and digital fundraising. Her team produced digital content and managed social media communications focused on climate and sustainability, innovation, and inclusion.

Caselli-Mechael serves as chief communications officer at Watch Duty. Watch Duty has grown into a trusted voice in public safety, known for its wildfire alerts, air quality index, wind direction, and red-flag warnings delivered through its app. During major wildfires in Los Angeles County, Watch Duty became a critical resource, used by more than 8 million people in a single week and featured in the city's Emergency Operations Center as a primary live intelligence feed. As the organization's top communications executive, Caselli-Mechael has been a key public voice for the platform, emphasizing the importance of features that address critical gaps for users during emergencies and the goal to add value for users in times of fear and uncertainty. She holds a degree in Science, Technology, and International Affairs from Georgetown University, as well as an MS in agricultural economics and an MBA.
