Lisa Mayer

Lisa Mayer is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and co-founder and CEO of Boss Beauties, a media and entertainment brand supported by Serena Ventures, the venture fund established by athlete Serena Williams. Boss Beauties aims to inspire and empower the next generation of women and girls through impact programs, content, and consumer products. Mayer’s mission to equip young women has reached thousands of high school and college-aged girls across 15 countries and more than 400 educational institutions.

Before founding Boss Beauties, Mayer launched My Social Canvas, a company she built independently. Her business pivot occurred after selling an order of My Social Canvas phone cases to Target, which was later canceled due to the pandemic, resulting in financial challenges. At one point, Mayer had $7.15 in her bank account, a moment she documented to motivate herself to continue. She later entered the NFT space with Boss Beauties.

Boss Beauties’ first NFT collection, featuring 10,000 unique digital portraits of independent and diverse women, sold out in its first hour and became the first NFT collection displayed at the New York Stock Exchange. The collection is owned by public figures including Reese Witherspoon, Eva Longoria, and Allyson Felix, and was featured on the Nasdaq Tower for International Day of the Girl.

Under Mayer’s leadership, Boss Beauties has collaborated globally with brands such as Barbie, Rolling Stone, Marvel, Neiman Marcus, NASDAQ, the New York Stock Exchange, NARS Cosmetics, and the United Nations. The company’s NFT was the first to be displayed at the New York Stock Exchange and funded a scholarship for women and girls in honor of Louise Jones, the youngest woman to hold a seat on the NYSE. Mayer’s work has been featured in Forbes, AdAge, Fortune, People, ELLE, and Bloomberg Live, and has received recognition from Apple, Verizon, and Amazon.

Mayer extended the Boss Beauties mission into publishing with her debut book, "Boss Beauty: Inspiration to Be Everything You Want." The book combines portraits of diverse women from a digital collectibles collection with affirmations, advice, and insights from Mayer and her mentors, encouraging women and girls to pursue their ambitions. It features contributions from CEOs, Olympic athletes, a chef, a NASCAR driver, and others, including Robin Arzón, Arlan Hamilton, Allyson Felix, Jameela Jamil, Julia Landauer, and Randi Zuckerberg. As a keynote speaker, Mayer addresses topics such as overcoming fear of failure, building resilience, and embracing leadership, drawing on lessons from trailblazers featured in her book.
