Kyle Long

Kyle Long is a former NFL offensive lineman known for his career with the Chicago Bears and his work in football broadcasting. Long was selected by the Chicago Bears with the 20th overall pick in the NFL Draft, becoming the first guard drafted by the team in the first round since Roger Davis. In his rookie season with the Bears, Long became the team's first offensive rookie since Gale Sayers to be named to the NFL Pro Bowl. He went on to become the first Bears player since Brian Urlacher to be named to the Pro Bowl in each of his first three professional football seasons, and the first Bears offensive lineman to accomplish that feat.

Long's athletic path was unconventional. He was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 23rd round of the Major League Baseball draft but did not sign, choosing instead to honor his commitment to Florida State University. After enrolling at Saddleback College, Long returned to football, initially playing as a defensive end before switching to the offensive line. During his junior year at the University of Oregon, he helped lead the Ducks to victory over Kansas State in the Fiesta Bowl, establishing himself as a top offensive line prospect.

Long's NFL career with the Chicago Bears spanned seven years, during which he earned three Pro Bowl selections and one All-Pro honor. His later seasons were marked by significant injuries, including a torn labrum in his left shoulder and a severe right ankle injury. Long announced his retirement from professional football, though he later signed with the Kansas City Chiefs after deciding to come out of retirement, only to injure his knee during offseason activities. Long was named among the 100 greatest Bears of all time.

After his playing career, Long transitioned into football broadcasting, becoming a studio analyst on "The NFL Today+" and CBS Sports HQ. He has contributed to CBS's NFL coverage, working for CBS Sports Network and Paramount+ on "That Other Pregame Show" and "The NFL Today+." He also worked the main network set for the postseason alongside Kirk Cousins. Long joined "The NFL Today" as an analyst, appearing alongside James Brown, Bill Cowher, and Nate Burleson on the Sunday pregame show.
