Kyla Pratt

Kyla Pratt is an American actress and singer whose career spans more than three decades in the entertainment industry. Pratt began acting at age 8, appearing in commercials for an interactive computer game and Nike. She built an early résumé with credits including "Living Single," "The Parent 'Hood," "ER," "Moesha," "The Hughleys," "The Parkers," "Lizzie McGuire," and an episode of "Friends."

Pratt's breakthrough occurred when she landed a role alongside Eddie Murphy in the comedy "Dr. Dolittle." After portraying Maya Dolittle, the daughter of Murphy's character in "Dr. Dolittle" and "Dr. Dolittle 2," Pratt became the main character in the franchise's spin-off series, which included "Dr. Dolittle 3," "Dr. Dolittle: Tail to the Chief," and "Dr. Dolittle: Million Dollar Mutts." She is also recognized for voicing Penny Proud in Disney Channel's animated series "The Proud Family" and for her role as Breanna Latrice Barnes in UPN's "One on One." Pratt also performed the theme song for "The Proud Family." Her work on the series earned her a NAMIC Vision Award for best comedy performance.

Pratt has maintained a consistent presence in film and television, appearing as young Monica in Gina Prince-Bythewood's romance "Love & Basketball," as well as in "Fat Albert," "Hotel for Dogs," and "The Proud Family Movie." She later appeared in Fox's "Call Me Kat," participating in 53 episodes.

Created by Bruce W. Smith and Ralph Farquhar, "The Proud Family" was Disney Channel's first original animated series. After its original run concluded with "The Proud Family Movie," the franchise expanded with "The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder." The series has received recognition, including a NAMIC Award, multiple NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Animated Series, and a Children's and Family Emmy Award for Outstanding Casting for an Animated Series. Pratt's work as the voice of Penny Proud continues to resonate with audiences, contributing to her enduring presence in television and film.
