Krishna Thapa Biography
Krishna Thapa, known as the “Warrior Monk,” is a former SAS soldier, record-setting mountaineer, and spiritual guide who combines elite military experience with Eastern philosophy and mindfulness. One of only two Gurkhas from the Royal Gurkha Rifles to pass selection into British Special Forces, he served as head of the Mountain Troops and completed frontline deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Thapa holds multiple world-first mountaineering records and has led expeditions across the Himalayas, Africa, and Europe. His achievements include leading the largest summit group up Mount Everest and becoming the first serving Warrant Officer to summit both Everest and K2. He has also completed ski descents from major 8,000-meter peaks, including Dhaulagiri.
Beyond expedition leadership, Thapa works with amputees, visually impaired climbers, veterans with PTSD, and people living with Parkinson’s disease. As a meditation teacher and motivational speaker, he draws on Buddhist philosophy and high-performance leadership to promote resilience, wellbeing, and personal growth.
