Kerry Mitchell Brown

Dr. Kerry Mitchell Brown is CEO of kmb Consultancy and one of the country's leading authorities on organizational transformation and Black women's leadership. Her work draws on 20 years of original longitudinal research — two formal studies, more than 600 women — and 30 years of practice inside Fortune 100 companies, nonprofits, government institutions, higher education, and labor organizations.

Her research examines what actually drives advancement, influence, and sustained leadership effectiveness for Black women. The findings challenge conventional wisdom across multiple dimensions: how internal visibility and proximity to power predict promotion, why care is a leadership competency rather than a liability, how relationship ecosystems compound influence over time, what sustainability looks like in high-performing leaders, and why the collective success model outperforms individual advancement strategies. The approaches organizations now spend billions to replicate were built by Black women generations ago — out of necessity, because exclusion required innovation.

She is the author of "Revolutionary Leadership: A Power Playbook for Black Women," published by Entrepreneur Books, a Forbes imprint. She holds a PhD in Organizations and Management, an MBA, and is a Gestalt Organizational Systems Development certified practitioner and Goldman Sachs Black in Business alumna. She hosts the Revolutionary Leadership podcast and has been featured in Forbes, NBC, Black Enterprise, and Bloomberg.
