Keah Brown

Keah Brown, an American disability rights activist, author, and journalist, made waves in the digital world with her creation of the viral hashtag #DisabledAndCute in February 2017. Her written work, which illuminates the experiences of disabled individuals, has graced the pages of major publications including "Cosmopolitan", "Teen Vogue", and "Harper's Bazaar". Demonstrating her versatility as a writer, Brown's first book, "The Pretty One: On Life, Pop Culture, Disability, and Other Reasons to Fall in Love, with Me" was published in August 2019. Her other recent releases include a picture book titled "Sam's Super Seats" and a YA book, "The Secret Summer Promise".

Brown has used her platform to challenge the entertainment industry's portrayal of disabled individuals and people of color. Her advocacy is focused on increasing representation and changing societal perceptions of disabled people, particularly women of color. Beyond her writing, her activism has earned her features on the 3rd Hour of Today and a profile by Brie Larson for Marie Claire. She further delivered a TEDx talk at TEDxPrincetonWomen in November 2020 titled "Choosing Joy, Ambition, and Self-Love", encapsulating her advocacy for self-love and her journey towards self-acceptance as a Black disabled queer woman.

Aside from her activism and writing, Brown is also a screenwriter and a studying actress, currently co-writing a musical and venturing into the film and TV industry. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the State University of New York at Fredonia, evidencing her strong professional background. Her work has also appeared in "Elle", "Harper’s Bazaar", "Marie Claire UK", and "The New York Times", and she has written for "Netflix", "Allure", "Glamour", and "InStyle". Brown lives in New York and is active on social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter, where she engages with her audience.
