Karl Kapp

Karl M. Kapp, Ed.D., is a professor, analyst, speaker, and designer specializing in instructional games and gamification within the learning design and technology sector. Kapp serves as a full professor of instructional technology at Bloomsburg University, where he teaches courses related to games, gamification, and learning technologies. He is also director of Bloomsburg's Institute for Interactive Technologies, which collaborates with organizations to create interactive instruction, including games, gamification solutions, and simulations. Kapp was recognized as one of the Top 20 Most Influential Training Professionals by TrainingIndustry, Inc.

Kapp is widely known for his work on gamification in education. He authored "The Gamification of Learning and Instruction," a foundational text in the field, and "The Gamification of Learning and Instruction Fieldbook," which provides practical guidance for implementing gamification strategies. He has written or co-authored eight books on the intersection of learning and technology, including "Learning in 3D: Adding a New Dimension to Enterprise Learning and Collaboration," which has been translated into several languages.
