Karen Schaler

Karen Schaler is a three-time Emmy Award-winning screenwriter, producer, bestselling author, journalist, and national TV host known for her extensive work in holiday entertainment. Schaler has written romantic comedies, comedies, and dramas for film, television, and audio, contributing to platforms such as Netflix, Hallmark, and Lifetime. Her original screenplay for the Netflix Original "A Christmas Prince" established a successful franchise and became one of the platform's most-watched movies. Schaler also wrote the original "Christmas Camp" movie for Hallmark, two Lifetime Christmas movies, and three Christmas books within an 18-month period.

Prior to her work in holiday content, Schaler built a career as a broadcast journalist. She served as a national White House correspondent, was the first journalist embedded with an Apache helicopter unit in Afghanistan and with troops in Bosnia, and worked undercover as a crime and investigative reporter. Schaler wrote, executive produced, and hosted Emmy Award-winning television documentaries that aired on NBC and ABC. Her experiences as a journalist inform her storytelling across multiple media.

Schaler has expanded her storytelling by creating real-life Christmas Camp experiences at resorts, hotels, and destinations worldwide, inspired by her "Christmas Camp" movie and books. These events have been featured on NBC's TODAY show and have sold out at top hotels and resorts. Schaler is a keynote and motivational speaker, as well as an on-air expert appearing on NBC's TODAY, ABC, Fox & Friends, FOX NEWS, CNN, Inside Edition, Celebrity Page TV, and other television and radio stations. She is also featured in Marlo Thomas's book It Ain't Over, which highlights women who have reinvented their careers.
