Karan Brar

Karan Barr is an Indian American actor who portrayed Chirag Gupta in the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" film franchise. He is also known for his work on the Disney Channel, where he played the lovable and witty Ravi Ross. From 2011 to 2015, Brar starred on the hit series "Jessie," portraying an Indian adoptee who quickly became a fan favorite. Originally, the character of Ravi was written as a South American boy named Javier. However, after an impressive audition, casting directors reimagined the role to fit Brar, allowing him to bring his own cultural background and personality to the part.

In 2015, Brar continued his role as Ravi in the "Jessie" spinoff "Bunk’d," solidifying his presence in the Disney universe. That same year, he appeared in the Disney Channel Original Movie "Invisible Sister" as George. Expanding his filmography beyond children’s television, Brar took on a minor role in the 2018 science fiction action film "Pacific Rim Uprising."

Outside of acting, Brar has shared his personal journey with honesty and vulnerability. He lived in the Los Angeles area with his parents and older sister before moving in with close friends and fellow actors Cameron Boyce and Sophie Reynolds in 2019. In November of 2023, he published a deeply personal essay in "Teen Vogue" in which he opened up about his struggles with PTSD and major depressive disorder. In the same piece, he also publicly came out as bisexual, marking an important moment in his life and becoming a voice for mental health and LGBTQ+ advocacy in the entertainment industry.
