June Squibb

June Squibb is an acclaimed actress known for her sharp wit, dynamic performances, and versatility. With a career spanning more than six decades, Squibb earned an Oscar nomination for her role as Kate Grant in Alexander Payne's 2013 film "Nebraska" but it was her breakout performance in 2024's action comedy film "Thelma" that brought her widespread recognition. In 2025, she starred in Scarlett Johansson's directorial debut "Eleanor The Great."

Born in Vandalia, Illinois, Squibb trained at the Cleveland Play House and later studied at the HB Studio in New York City. She began her career on stage, making her Broadway debut in the 1960 production of "Gypsy," where she performed alongside Ethel Merman.

Squibb’s first-ever film role came in 1990, at age 61, with a supporting role in Woody Allen’s romantic comedy, “Alice.” She has consistently appeared in movies and television since, firmly establishing herself as a beloved character actress. Her appearance in 2002's "About Schmidt" marked her first collaboration with director Alexander Payne; however, it was her performance in "Nebraska," when she was 84, that Squibb scored nominations for an Academy Award, Golden Globe, and BAFTA.

Squibb has also showcased her comedic and dramatic talents on television, with guest roles in series like "Shameless," "The Good Place,""Modern Family" and "American Horror Stories." Her later career has been marked by a steady stream of work, including voice roles in animated films and critically acclaimed projects, such as "Ralph Breaks the Internet," "Toy Story 4," "Soul" and "Inside Out 2."
