Juan Verde

Juan Verde is a global strategist who stands at the intersection of international business, public policy, and sustainable leadership. Over more than two decades he has advised U.S. Presidents, prime ministers, and the CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, helping shape economic and sustainability strategies for leaders across North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia. Verde was appointed by President Biden to the President's Export Council, the principal national advisory committee on international trade, where he counseled the White House on export strategy and U.S. global competitiveness. During the Obama administration he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe and Eurasia at the U.S. Department of Commerce—a White House appointment in which he led the Department's efforts to resolve trade-policy and market-access challenges for American companies and to formulate economic and commercial strategy across Europe and Eurasia. Earlier, during the Clinton administration, he served as an international trade advisor at the Department of Commerce, first in the Office of Latin America and later at the Minority Business Development Agency.

A trusted figure in American public life, Verde has advised Democratic candidates for decades as a policy advisor and fundraiser and as Chair of Americans Abroad for Biden. He has collaborated with some of the world's most influential leaders—including Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, Secretaries of State Hillary Clinton and John Kerry, Vice President Al Gore, and the late Senator Ted Kennedy—and has worked with the governments of the United States, Lithuania, and Gibraltar, as well as numerous presidents, governors, and mayors across Latin America.

In the private sector, Verde is Founder and Chairman of Alamo Solution Holding Group and Vice Chairman and Board Member of Volcan Compañía Minera, one of Latin America's leading mining companies. He has advised global corporations—among them Google, Cisco, SAS, American Express, and Banco Santander Investments US—on sustainability strategy and international expansion, and has worked with institutions including the Inter-American Development Bank, Harvard University, and the World Bank. He founded and led the Canary Islands and Gibraltar chapters of the American Chamber of Commerce.

A long-standing advocate for climate action, Verde helped expand Vice President Al Gore's Climate Reality Project by establishing its branches in Spain and Argentina. He has been recognized for two consecutive years among the 100 Most Influential Hispanic Leaders in the Fight Against Climate Change, named to the TOP100 Disruptive Leaders of 2021, and has participated in the United Nations Climate Change Conferences COP25 and COP26. Verde holds a master's degree in public policy from Harvard University, where he was elected to the Alumni Board of Directors at the Kennedy School of Government, and a Bachelor of Arts in political science and international relations from Boston University. He has been decorated as a knight by the Sovereign Order of the Ecumenical Knights of Rhodes and Malta, and his work has been recognized by Pope Francis.
