Jonathan Tropper

Jonathan Tropper is a novelist, screenwriter, and television producer whose career encompasses bestselling fiction, film adaptations, and a range of series in contemporary television. Tropper earned a bachelor's degree in English from Yeshiva University and a master's degree in creative writing from New York University. After completing his graduate studies, Tropper spent eight years managing a Manhattan-based company that manufactured displays for jewelry companies while writing during evenings and weekends. He published his first novel, "Plan B," which led to his transition to full-time writing.

Tropper is the author of several New York Times bestselling novels, including "Everything Changes," "This Is Where I Leave You," and "One Last Thing Before I Go." His books have been translated into more than 20 languages. Five of his six books, including "The Book of Joe," "How to Talk to a Widower," "Everything Changes," "One Last Thing Before I Go," and "This Is Where I Leave You," were optioned at auction shortly after publication. The themes in Tropper's novels often draw from personal experience, exploring topics such as single life, growing up, marriage, divorce, and suburban living. Tropper has also taught fiction at Manhattanville University.

Tropper's fifth novel, "This Is Where I Leave You," a family drama about four siblings reuniting at their childhood home, was adapted into a feature film for which he wrote the screenplay. His screenwriting credits include the Netflix film "Kodachrome" and the science fiction adventure "The Adam Project," which ranks among Netflix's top original films. Tropper was also selected to write the script for a "Star Wars" feature film directed by Shawn Levy.

In television, Tropper co-created the action drama "Banshee" for Cinemax with David Schickler and later created Cinemax/Max's "Warrior," based on a treatment by Bruce Lee. He has worked extensively with Apple TV+ as a writer and creator, beginning as executive producer and showrunner on the original series "See." Tropper's series "Your Friends & Neighbors" on Apple TV+ was renewed for a third season before the second season premiered, and the second season received a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series. Tropper's work spans literary fiction, Hollywood films, and television, establishing him as a versatile storyteller in the entertainment industry.
