Jonathan Reckford Biography
Jonathan T.M. Reckford is CEO of Habitat for Humanity International, a global Christian housing organization that has helped more than 46 million people build or improve their homes. Since taking the role in 2005, he has led the organization’s growth from serving 125,000 people annually to over 7 million last year across all 50 U.S. states and more than 70 countries.
A Morehead Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Reckford began his career as a financial analyst at Goldman Sachs and was a Henry Luce Scholar in South Korea, where he coached the national rowing team and supported the 1988 Olympics. He earned an MBA from Stanford and held executive roles at Marriott, Disney, and Best Buy before serving as executive pastor at Christ Presbyterian Church near Minneapolis.
Reckford chairs Leadership 18, serves on the Council on Foreign Relations and the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Cities, and is a board member of Barron Collier Companies. Named America’s most influential nonprofit leader in 2017 by The NonProfit Times, he is the author of Our Better Angels: Seven Simple Virtues That Will Change Your Life and the World. He and his wife, Ashley, have three children and live in Atlanta.
