John Huey
John Huey Biography
John Huey is the former editor-in-chief of Time Inc.’s U.S. magazines, overseeing brands including Time, People, Fortune, Sports Illustrated, Entertainment Weekly and Real Simple. He became the company’s sixth editor-in-chief in 2006 after serving as editorial director and previously leading Fortune as managing editor and editor of the Fortune Group.
Under his leadership, Fortune earned top industry honors, and Huey was named Editor of the Year by Advertising Age and Adweek, and recognized by Columbia Journalism Review as one of the nation’s top magazine editors.
A native of Atlanta, Huey graduated from the University of Georgia and served as a U.S. Navy intelligence officer before joining The Wall Street Journal, where he helped launch its European edition. He later co-authored "Sam Walton: Made in America," the autobiography of Sam Walton, a New York Times bestseller.
Huey was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and served on the advisory board of the Poynter Institute.
