John Hagel

John Hagel III is a management consultant, author, speaker, and entrepreneur with more than 40 years of experience in business strategy, digital transformation, and organizational change. After retiring as a partner from Deloitte, McGraw Hill published his eighth book, "The Journey Beyond Fear," which addresses the psychology of change. Hagel developed a series of programs designed to help individuals and organizations navigate change at multiple levels. He is the founder of Beyond Our Edge, LLC, a company that collaborates with businesses and individuals seeking to anticipate future trends and achieve greater impact.

While at Deloitte, Hagel founded and served as co-chairman of the global Deloitte Center for the Edge, headquartered in Silicon Valley with branches in Amsterdam, Melbourne, and Singapore. The center focuses on identifying emerging business opportunities that are not yet on the CEO agenda. Prior to Deloitte, Hagel worked as an independent consultant and writer, and previously served as a principal at McKinsey & Company, where he led the Strategy Practice and founded the E-Commerce Practice. He has also held the role of senior vice president of strategy at Atari, Inc., and founded two Silicon Valley startups.

Hagel is a faculty member at Singularity University, where he delivers talks on digital technology, business innovation, and the transition from linear to exponential business models. He serves on the Board of Trustees at the Santa Fe Institute, an organization conducting research on complex adaptive systems. Hagel has led business transformation initiatives with the World Economic Forum, including serving as a member of its Global Future Council on Platforms and Systems, and has spoken at the Davos Annual Meeting.

Hagel is the author of several business books, including "The Power of Pull," "Net Gain," "Net Worth," "Out of the Box," and "The Only Sustainable Edge." He coined the term 'infomediary' in his book "Net Worth: Shaping Markets When Customers Make the Rules." His work has been published and cited in major business publications such as The Economist, Fortune, Forbes, Business Week, Financial Times, and Wall Street Journal, as well as general media including New York Times, NBC, and BBC. Hagel has received two awards from Harvard Business Review for best articles and has delivered keynote addresses at forums including TED, the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, the Microsoft CEO Summit, and Singularity University Global Summit.

Hagel holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University, a B.Phil. from Oxford University, and a JD and MBA from Harvard University.
