Joe Mantegna

Chicago native Joe Mantegna has a background in both theater and film. After making his Broadway debut in Stephen Schwartz's musical adaptation of Studs Terkel's "Working," Mantegna received the Tony Award and Joseph Jefferson Award for his performance as real-estate agent Richard Roma in David Mamet's Pulitzer Prize-winning play "Glengarry Glen Ross."

Closely associated with Mamet’s work, Mantegna starred in the theatrical premiere of "A Life in the Theater," "The Disappearance of the Jews" at Goodman Theater, and the Broadway production of "Speed the Plow" with Ron Silver and Madonna. He also directed a stage production of Mamet's "Lakeboat," featuring Ed O’Neil and George Wendt, during a Los Angeles theatrical run.

Mantegna’s film and television credits include "House of Games," "Searching for Bobby Fisher," "Godfather III," his Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated portrayal of Dean Martin in "The Ratpack," his Emmy-nominated role of Pipi Delana in "The Last Don," and the voice of Fat Tony on "The Simpsons." For two seasons, Mantegna starred with Mary Steenburgen and Amber Tamblyn in the CBS drama "Joan of Arcadia," which received the People’s Choice Award for best new drama and multiple Emmy nominations. Mantegna reprised his Emmy-nominated role of Lou Manahan opposite Debra Messing in the USA Network series "The Starter Wife." He has also contributed voice work to the Disney/Pixar film "Cars 2" and continues his long-running role as Fat Tony on "The Simpsons." Mantegna received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Mantegna dedicates time to philanthropic endeavors. He was appointed national spokesperson for the U.S. Army Museum to support the fundraising campaign for the National Museum of the United States Army. He serves as an ambassador for the Gary Sinise Foundation, supporting wounded veterans, and has hosted the National Memorial Day Concert since 2006. His charitable work includes support for autism-related organizations and the Barbara Sinatra Center for Abused Children.

Mantegna received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for his contributions to the community and acting. He returned to his role as FBI Special Agent David Rossi in the CBS drama "Criminal Minds: Evolution," continuing his work in crime drama television. Mantegna has been honored with the Icon Award at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, recognizing his enduring impact on television. He remains active in public speaking, frequently appearing at industry events and veteran support initiatives, and is recognized for his expertise in both dramatic and comedic roles.
