Jim Knox

Jim Knox is a zoologist, wildlife conservationist, and Curator of Education at Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo, where he has directed education and wildlife conservation programs for more than 25 years at the AZA-accredited institution. A graduate of Cornell University, Knox studied animal science, providing a foundation for a career focused on fieldwork and connecting people with the natural world. His research has included studying great white sharks in South Africa, conducting fieldwork on Alaskan brown bears, performing conservation efforts for Atlantic salmon, and writing nationally for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and for Natural History Magazine.

As the writer and host for PBS television's "Wild Zoofari," Knox shared wildlife knowledge with viewers in the United States, Russia, Thailand, the Middle East, and Europe on Animal Planet. He is a member of The Explorers Club and has served as an on-camera wildlife expert for The Today Show, The CBS Early Show, and Fox News. Knox has been featured in The New York Times, served as a wildlife consultant for Men's Journal Magazine, and as a guest host for Connoisseur Media Star 99.9 FM's Anna & Raven Show. His ability to communicate complex wildlife science has established him as a trusted voice in conservation across multiple media platforms.

Knox has lectured for The Explorers Club, The Yale School of the Environment, The Harvard College Conservation Society, and The United States Coast Guard Academy. He serves as a science adviser for The Bruce Museum of Greenwich and writes the wildlife column "Wildly Successful" for The Greenwich Sentinel. Knox is the co-creator of the Conservation Discovery Corps, which received first place honors from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums as the Outstanding Education Program in the nation. He also co-created the Research, Internships and Zoo Education (RIZE) program with Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo and Fairfield University, which received Top Honors from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Education Award, recognizing innovation and excellence in conservation education among more than 250 accredited institutions worldwide.

With more than 3,000 presentations delivered, Knox is known for engaging audiences on wildlife conservation, endangered species, and environmental education. As a national keynote speaker, corporate presenter, and TEDx presenter, Knox addresses a range of audiences, from corporate executives and university students to families at nature centers, bringing wildlife conservation issues to the forefront and encouraging action to protect the world's biodiversity.
