Jenni Donohoo

Dr. Jenni Donohoo is a researcher, author, and professional learning facilitator whose work has influenced how educators understand and foster collective teacher efficacy. With more than 25 years of experience in education, Donohoo specializes in professional learning, school improvement, and educator development. She holds bachelor's degrees in art history and sociology from the University of Windsor, a master's degree in education, and a PhD in education from the joint doctoral program at the University of Windsor, Brock University, and Lakehead University in Ontario, Canada. Her doctoral dissertation focused on fostering metacognition in adolescent students, a theme that continues to inform her research and practice.

Donohoo has experience in elementary, secondary, and postsecondary education and has developed multiyear partnerships with organizations and government agencies. She collaborates with system and school leaders to support professional learning initiatives aimed at improving student outcomes. Her expertise includes collective efficacy, metacognition, adolescent literacy, and collaborative learning structures. Donohoo's research highlights the impact of collective efficacy on student achievement and the role of collaborative educator actions in improving student learning.

Donohoo is the author of five books, including "Collaborative Inquiry for Educators: A Facilitator's Guide to School Improvement," "The Transformative Power of Collaborative Inquiry: Realizing Change in Schools and Classrooms" (co-authored with Moses Velasco), "Collective Efficacy: How Educators' Beliefs Impact Student Learning," "Quality Implementation: Leveraging Collective Efficacy to Make 'What Works' Actually Work" (co-authored with Steven Katz), and "Leading Collective Efficacy: Powerful Stories of Achievement and Equity" (co-authored with Stefani Hite). Her books have been translated into multiple languages. Donohoo has also published peer-reviewed articles in the Journal of Educational Change, Journal of Professional Capital and Community, and Educational Leadership.

Donohoo serves as director of the Jenni Donohoo Center for Collective Efficacy. Her work has been recognized internationally, and education researcher John Hattie has identified her as a leader in global education. Donohoo has delivered keynote addresses at conferences including WorldEduLead, Raising Student Achievement, the Annual Visible Learning conference, Corwin's Women in Education, and the LEAP Conference in Australia. She collaborates with education leaders to develop evidence-based professional development sessions focused on leadership development, collective efficacy, and school improvement.
