Jeni Kubota

Dr. Jennifer Kubota is a Senior Ford Fellow and an associate professor in the Departments of Psychological and Brain Sciences and Political Science and International Relations at the University of Delaware, where she co-directs the Impression Formation Social Neuroscience Lab. Dr. Kubota serves as the director of professional development in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. She received a joint PhD in social psychology and neuroscience from the University of Colorado Boulder and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in social neuroscience at New York University and Harvard University. Dr. Kubota's research spans psychology, political science, neuroscience and decision-making, and she is a leading neuroscientist on the science of "us versus them," perhaps best known for her work on the neural foundations of racial bias.

She has published more than 45 articles in preeminent neuroscience and psychology journals, including Nature Neuroscience, Nature Human Behaviour, Psychological Science, Perspectives on Psychological Science, Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, Biological Psychology and Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience. Dr. Kubota is president-elect of the Social and Affective Neuroscience Society and a fellow of the Society for Experimental Social Psychology and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology, and she is a Bowman Center Scholar. She was awarded the Senior Ford Fellowship in 2022 and serves on the governing boards of the Social and Affective Neuroscience Society and SPARK Society.

Dr. Kubota is an associate editor at the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and serves on the editorial boards of Psychophysiology, Psychological Science and Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience. Her research has received funding from the Army Research Institute, the MINERVA Institute, the Ford Foundation, the National Institute on Aging and the National Science Foundation.
